Gordon Mann, Charles Greer and <br />Jon Greenfield of 504 Self-Evaluation <br />Committee, George and Lee Blondino, <br />N1ta Spangler <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Director Peter Griffiths, <br />Park & Recreation Superintendent <br />Sally Hartman, Recreation Supervisor <br />Julie Hannon, Assistant Recreation <br />Center Supervisor Mike Blandino and <br />Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order at 7:30pm by Chairperson Don Davis in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City. California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the March meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />There was no correspondence. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - Discussion with Section 504 Sub-Committee <br /> <br />Housing Coordinator and Section 504 Committee Member Debbie Jones-Thomas gave <br />a brief history of the 504 Committee and spoke about the feedback which the <br />sub-committee has developed regarding the plans for the new Red Morton <br />Center. Committee Member Eldon Luce explained the 504 Committee is 2 years <br />old and consists of City staff and Redwood City residents who have <br />volunteered their time to participate. The Committee1s purpose is to see <br />where the City can improve accessibility and also insure compliance with ADA <br />regulations. The Committee has looked not only at buildings but at the <br />Cityls policies. programs and procedures to insure accessibility for all <br />citizens. Mr. Luce said all City facilities have been surveyed for <br />accessibility and a list was developed of prioritized projects that need to <br />be completed. Mr. luce noted the sub-committee has looked at the 2 proposed <br />plans for the new Red Morton Center and reviewed them for accessibility and <br />compliance. <br /> <br />City Arbor1st and Committee Member Gordon Mann said the sub-committee was <br />interested in looking at the parking lot and entryways to insure a smooth <br />flow throughout the building. He mentioned the sub-committee would be <br />interested in reviewing the architectural plans for the new building. <br /> <br />
