<br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26, 1994 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Davis¡ Commissioners Howard, <br />Morton, N ordness, and Truscelli <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Slusser and Swope <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Mary Letzring <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Griffiths, Superintendent Jones and Secretary <br />M on roe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order at 7:30pm by Chairperson Davis in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the November meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />-The Co mmiss i oners reee i v ed a memo from Management Anal y stRam on <br />Aguilar regarding a proposal for perimeter security from the Historic Union <br />,Cemetery Association (HUCA). The memo indicated that HUCA will be <br />recommending approval of the proposal from the Planning Commission at <br />their February 1 meeting. The Commissioners discussed this matter and <br />requested that it be placed on the February agenda. Director Griffiths said he <br />would have Mr. Aguilar attend our February meeting to give the <br />Commission an update on the project. <br /> <br />ITEM 1- BELMONT SCHOOL DISTRICT UPDATE <br /> <br />Director Griffiths told the Commissioners that negotiations with the Belmont <br />School District are proceeding and more meetings are scheduled with the <br />School Board. The Belmont School District has committed $3.5 million to the <br />project and the City has committed funds for a multi-purpose room which <br />would be used by the school during the day and the City as a community <br />center in the evenings and weekends. Director Griffiths said there has been a <br />tremendous amount of community interest in the project and that the City <br />Council has received a petition signed by more than 100 members of the <br />community in support of the project. He announced there will be a meeting <br />Monday, January 31 with the key members of the Redwood Shores <br />community to further discuss the project. Director Griffiths said that <br /> <br />
