MINUTES OF MARCH 23, 1994 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Vice Chairperson Truscelli, Commissioners Davis, Howard, Morton, Nordness and Slusser COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Chairperson Swope GUESTS PRESENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Director Peter Griffiths, Superintendent Bob Jones, Park Supervisor Mike Gibbons, Secretary Denise Monroe The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order at 7:30pm by Vice Chairperson Pauline Truscelli in Room 5 of the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Slusser asked that a correction be made to the February minutes to reflect that he was in attendance. The minutes were approved as corrected. CORRESPONDENCE -V ice Ch airperson T ruscelli invited the C ommiss ion erg to the Arb 0 r Day Ceremony hosted by the Native Daughters of the Golden West to be held Saturday, April 23, 1994 at 2:00pm at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center. Maria Amaya will be honored with a plaque and a tree planting. .. ITEM 1- RED MORTON CENTER UPDATE Director Griffiths explained the cost estimates are in on the project and Mark Schatz has provided designs and specifications to staff. He said the final package containing the plans and specifications would be available around Apri116. They will be reviewed by staff and will be on the June agenda of the City Council. September 1 is the estimated date of demolition of the Red Morton Center. Director Griffiths said the plans are being reviewed for distaster preparedness and there are plans to move the emergency generator from the old Police Department to the new center.
