<br />11 <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF MARCH 22, 1995 <br /> <br />CO MMIS S lONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Sw ope, Co mmiss ioners <br />Hughes, Nordness, Slusser and Truscelli <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Davis and Morton <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli, Bert Peralta <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Peter Griffiths, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Susan Swope at 7:35pm in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the February meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />ITEM 1- BELMONT SCHOOL DISTRIcr UPDATE <br /> <br />Director Griffiths invited the Commissioners to attend a joint meeting <br />between the Belmont School District and the City Council on Tuesday, March. <br />28, 1995 at 7:00pm at the Belmont Sports Complex. The purpose for the <br />meeting will be to approve the agreement for the community center/school <br />project. Director Griffiths stated that the next step in the process will be for <br />the Request for Proposals (RFP) for architectural services to be sent out and <br />the hiring of a project manager. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - RED MORTON CENTER UPDATE <br /> <br />Chairperson Swope reported that a $1,000.00 donation to the Red Morton <br />Fund was received from Dave and Sybil Schutz which brings the total to <br />$3,000.00 in donations received. Commissioner Nordness has obtained a <br />commitment from his employer to donate the paper needed to produce both <br />the small and large brochure for the fund raising effort. Chairperson Swope <br />and Commissioner Davis will be meeting with an editor at SRI tomorrow to <br />work on the brochure. Commissioner Davis arranged for a photographer to <br />take pictures of recreation activities to go in the large brochure. A letter from <br />Mayor Gasparini was received which will also be included. <br /> <br />Chairperson Swope stated that there is a problem with the deadline for the <br />brick program and the construction of the building. The contractor will need <br />the bricks by the end of June in order to install at the front of the building but <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />
