She <br />discussed the process she went through and her discussions with various City <br />staff members and her disappointment that the trees were still removed <br />despite her efforts. She showed pictures of the site and a map of Garrett Park <br />to the Commissioners to acquaint them with the area. Ms. Benesch said she <br />would like to see the City's Heritage Tree Ordinance "beefed up" to protect <br />other trees from being removed. Acting Superintendent Gibbons stated that <br />the remaining trees are not scheduled to be removed at this time. <br />Commissioner Davis spoke about the City Council meeting he attended when <br />Ms. Benesch first brought this matter to the Council. Acting Superintendent <br />Gibbons stated the language in the Heritage Tree Ordinance has been <br />designated for revision in 1997 due to the fact that the Forestry Division was <br />transferred in 1993 from the Parks, Recreation and Community Services <br />Department to the Public Works Services Department.
