Public Hearing - Application for Franchise Renewal - <br />Peninsula Cable TV <br /> <br />City Council Committee report 12/7/82 <br /> <br />Notice of Publication of Public Hearing (voluntary) display advertisements <br />- 12/1 and 12/8/82 in the Redwood City Almanac; 12/2 and 12/9/82 in the <br />Peninsula Times Tribune. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Councilman Biagi presented the report of the City Council Committee on <br />Cable Television. <br /> <br />Mayor Stangel declared the public hearing open 7:38 p.m. <br /> <br />Ronald Trugman, 2469 Brewster Avenue, faculty member, Canada College, used <br />a slide listing the matters the college would like to have considered when <br />renewal of the cable television franchise is before Council: 1) A minimum <br />of five channels for education use; 2) Multiple program origination <br />points; and 3) Facilities and equipment for producing programs. Dr. <br />Trugman commented on potential educational uses and replied to questions <br />concerning whether subscribers would ultimately pay for the items <br />requested and whether there is strong support from faculty and students <br />for such programs. <br /> <br />Donna Fuqua, 22 Barcelona Circle, President of Sunrise Homeowners <br />Association in Redwood Shores~ reported her development prohibits antennae <br />and has been unable to obtain cable television services in spite of <br />continual assurances over the past four years that it would be installed <br />soon.
