<br />Chairman Buchan cal1.ed the regular meeting of the Park and Recreation
<br />Commission to oròer at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Activities
<br />Building, 1400 RooseveJ,t Avenue, Redwood rity, California. The
<br />minutes of the February 10 meeting were approved as mail.ed.
<br />
<br />Guest Richard Martinez, representing the Se'i1ors Softball. League,
<br />requested a beer permit for their 4th of July weekend tournament ~.n
<br />Red Morton Community Park. In response to questlons from
<br />Commissioners Nordness and Swope, Mr. Martinez said the League wouJ.d
<br />like to sell beer in paper cups and charge between $0.50 and $1.00
<br />and that they were plannfng on selJing fooð and soft dri.nks as part
<br />of the tournament.

<br />Commissj.oner Mortensen said he felt it would be difficult to issue a
<br />permit to one group and not to another. Commissioner Anderson asked
<br />Director Griffiths what would be invol.ved in issu5.ng a permit for the
<br />sale of beer. Director Griffiths said it would take an amendment to
<br />the ordinance as currently there is no mechanism provfded for such a
<br />situation. He also said we will want to consult the City Attorney's
<br />office relating to feasibility and possible insurance requirements.

<br />MOTION:
<br />
<br />MIS Mortensen/Swope to request the opinion of the City
<br />Attorney and deve1op a subcommittee to investigate other
<br />cities for experiences in one-day alcohol permlts.
<br />
<br />Motion unanimously approved.
<br />
<br />Chairman Buchan appointed Commissioners Anderson, Mortensen and Swope
<br />to the subcommi. ttee. The subcommi ttee is scheduled to meet Tuesday,
<br />March 29,1988,7:30 p.m. at Commissioner Annerson's house.
