<br />~ <br /> <br />~ <br />... <br />Il"t- <br />".~ "- <br />" . <br /> <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8,1988 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Commissioners Howard, Mortense,n, Nordness, <br />Swope and Weiss <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> <br />Commissioner Anderson <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services <br />Director Griffiths and Secretary Frei <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called <br />to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Activities Building, 1400 <br />Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. The minutes of the <br />April 13,1988 meeting were approved as mailed. Item 6 of the June <br />8 meeting agenda was removed. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - ELECTION OF OFFICERS <br /> <br />Commissioner Mortensen nominated Commissioner Swope for a 14 month <br />term to the office of Chairman for the Park and Recreation <br />Commission. No other nominations were submitted and a vote was <br />taken. Unanimously approved 6 - O. <br /> <br />Commissioner Howard nominated Commissioner Weiss for a 14 month <br />term to the office of Vice-chairman for the Park and Recreation <br />Commission. No other nominations were submitted and a vote was <br />taken. Unanimously approved 6 - O. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Stulsaft Park Committee - Vice-chairman Weiss presented a slide show <br />of Stulsaft that he had photographed. Various shots depicted the <br />expansive beauty of one of Redwood City's least used parks. <br />Commissioner Weiss said he felt the Commission's goal should be to <br />educate the public so that many more residents can enjoy the 42 <br />acres of urban undeveloped park. <br /> <br />Commissioner Howard asked Director Griffiths if the Beautification <br />Committee had responded to the Commission's request for a Stulsaft <br />Park clean-up day. Director Griffiths responded that the requested <br />was presented to the Committee and put on their priority list. <br /> <br />Alcoholic Beverage Committee - Commissioner Mortensen asked if staff <br />had obtained concession agreements from other cities. Director <br />Griffiths responded that no, staff was awaiting information on the <br />legal aspects of such an arrangement. <br />
