PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8,1988 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Commissioners Howard, Mortense,n, Nordness, Swope and Weiss COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Anderson STAFF PRESENT: Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Griffiths and Secretary Frei The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. The minutes of the April 13,1988 meeting were approved as mailed. Item 6 of the June 8 meeting agenda was removed. ITEM 1 - ELECTION OF OFFICERS Commissioner Mortensen nominated Commissioner Swope for a 14 month term to the office of Chairman for the Park and Recreation Commission. No other nominations were submitted and a vote was taken. Unanimously approved 6 - O. Commissioner Howard nominated Commissioner Weiss for a 14 month term to the office of Vice-chairman for the Park and Recreation Commission. No other nominations were submitted and a vote was taken. Unanimously approved 6 - O. ITEM 2 - COMMITTEE REPORTS Stulsaft Park Committee - Vice-chairman Weiss presented a slide show of Stulsaft that he had photographed. Various shots depicted the expansive beauty of one of Redwood City's least used parks. Commissioner Weiss said he felt the Commission's goal should be to educate the public so that many more residents can enjoy the 42 acres of urban undeveloped park. Commissioner Howard asked Director Griffiths if the Beautification Committee had responded to the Commission's request for a Stulsaft Park clean-up day. Director Griffiths responded that the requested was presented to the Committee and put on their priority list. Alcoholic Beverage Committee - Commissioner Mortensen asked if staff had obtained concession agreements from other cities. Director Griffiths responded that no, staff was awaiting information on the legal aspects of such an arrangement.
