"- <br /> <br />... <br />.. <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14,1988 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Chairman Swope, Vice-chairman Weiss, <br />Commissioners Mortensen and Nordness <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> <br />Commissioners Anderson, Howard and Slusser <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: <br /> <br />See attached <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />" " <br /> <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Superintendent Hartman <br />and Secretary Frei <br /> <br />Chairman Swope called the regular meeting of the Park and Recreation <br />Commission to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Activities <br />Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. The <br />minutes of the August 10,1988 meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />Correspondence <br /> <br />Robert Slusser had summarized conversations and comments he received <br />from Redwood Shores residents regarding the conceptual design of <br />Marlin Park extension and Shannon Way Playground, which was <br />distributed to the Commission. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Rosselli Committee - This report was postponed until the October 12 <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Stulsaft Park Committee - The October 15 clean-up was discussed. <br />David Crevelt, 1434 Mitchell Way, said he thought he could gather <br />quite a bit of neighborhood support for the project. He has also <br />spoken with one of the local Cub Scout troops and requested their <br />participation. The Sunrise and Host Lions Club have indicated <br />interest as well as the Rotary Club. <br /> <br />All Commissioners said they would participate in the clean-up and it <br />was decided that each Commissioner would be responsible for a <br />particular area and crew. The BBQ will begin at 11:30 probably in <br />the parking lot and staff will notify the Fire Department. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - DISCUSSION ON NEW PARKS AT REDWOOD SHORES <br /> <br />Several residents living in the Marlin Park vicinity spoke of their <br />concerns with the conceptual plan that was run in the August edition <br />of the "Pilot". <br /> <br />Alan Cheetam, 509 Cringle Drive, stated the proposed parking <br />lot would cause traffic problems in an already high vehicular <br />accident area. He said there is a curve which drivers take at <br />dangerous speeds and collisions with cars entering and leaving the <br /> <br />
