<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2001 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Joseph, Commissioners Davis, <br />La Berge, Morton (arrived 8: 15pm), <br />Truscelli, and Walsh <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Swope <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Rich Beiderman, Walter Moore, Vince Truscelli, Adriana <br />Young, Chris Probasco <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Secretary Denise Monroe, <br />Manager Chris Beth, Assistant Recreation Center <br />Supervisor Adilah Haqq-Smith <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Jeri Joseph at 7:34pm in Room 5 at the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The January minutes were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPON DENCE <br /> <br />The following correspondence was received: <br />-A newsletter from the Santa Clara Valley Audibon Society <br /> <br />ITE M 1 - SKATE BOARD PARK U PDA TE <br /> <br />Assistant Recreation Center Supervisor Adilah Haqq-Smith gave the <br />Commission an update on the progress of the skatepark development. She <br />reported that lack Wormhoudt was selected as the best candidate from the <br />consultant interviews. Mr. Wormhoudt had more experience in the field and <br />has developed a large number of successful skateparks including ones in <br />Truckee and Santa Cruz. <br /> <br />Supervisor Haqq-Smith announced a public meeting was held on February 7 <br />to develop a skateboard task force. Between 40 to 50 people attended the <br />meeting and everyone was supportive of the concept. It was noted that <br />none of the park neighbors attended the meeting and Supervisor Haqq-Smith <br />will follow up with them. The next task force meeting will be held on <br />Tuesday, March 6 at 7: OOpm at Red Morton Center. Projected cost of the <br />new skateboard park is estimated at $250,000.
