The first sentence should read: "Commissioner Swope
reported that the presentation on the Parks, Recreation and Community
Services Department has been made to 17 organizations. The survey was
distributed at each meeting and 223 responses resulted".

The minutes of the June 19, 2002 meeting were approved as corrected.

CORRESPONDENCE

There was no correspondence.

ITEM 1 - APPEAL OF TREE REMOVAL PERMIT AT 970 EDGEWOOD
ROAD

Nita Spangler of 970 Edgewood Road spoke about her appeal of the denial of
a tree removal permit of a Zelkova tree in her front yard. She gave the
history of the tree which she planted in 1958 and which she feels needs to be
removed due to overgrowth and potential sewer problems to her home. Mrs.
Spangler stated there was a misunderstanding because she originally
received phone approval from the Public Works Services Department to
remove the tree. She was later informed that there was actually no permit
granted to remove the tree on her property. Both she and Davey Tree
Company were each given a $500.00 citation for trying to remove the tree
without a permit. Chairperson Joseph noted that the Commission has no
authority to reverse the citation fines.
