i . 1 PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, MAY 25, 2005 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Yapp, Commissioners Slusser, Truscelli, and White COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Vice Chairperson Morton, Commissioners Joseph and Swope GUESTS PRESENT: N.one STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendent Chris Beth and Administrative Assistant Denise Monroe Chairperson Bob Yapp called the regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission to order at 7: 32pm in Room 1 of the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. APPROVAL OF MIN UTES The minutes of the Commission's April 27- meeting were approved as mailed. CORRESPONDENCE Chairperson Yapp made mention of the letter sent to the San Mateo County Historical Association by Superintendent Hover at the request of the Commission inquiring as to the status of the windmill restoration project and the presentation of the City check to the Association Board of Directors. Director Centeno read the response received from Association President Mitch Postel which suggests a meeting be set up to discuss next steps for the restoration prior to making a presentation to the Board. Director Centeno indicated that Superintendent Hover would set up the meeting. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None. ITEM 1- FLEISHMAN PARK RENOVATION PLAN Director Centeno reported that Community Development Services, Engineering Division had recommended the use of Tim McKimson for landscape architectural services at Fleishman Park. 100 + letters have been sent out to neighbors, contacts have been made with the Redwood Oaks Neighborhood Association and flyers were sent to residents that hav~ participated in the PACT and/or Community Builders Program., A scoping event will be held on Saturday, June 4 at 11 :00 am at the park site.
