<br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br />THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND THE CITY OF SAN CARLOS <br />PROVIDING FOR THE IMPROVEMENTS OF SKY WAY AND AIRPORT WAY <br />AND THE DETACHMENT, ANNEXATION AND QUITCLAIM <br />OF CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF SAN CARLOS <br /> <br />RECITALS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, portions of the streets known as Sky Way and Airport Way (the <br />"Streets") are located within the City of Redwood City ("Redwood City") and only provide <br />access to properties within the City of San Carlos ("San Carlos") (collectively, the <br />"Parties"); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Streets are described in further detail on the attached Exhibit A <br />which is made a part hereof; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, two parcels located within a portion of the San Carlos Airport (the <br />"Airport") Clear Zone between Redwood Shores Parkway and Sky Way and identified <br />on Exhibit A as Parcel Two (the "Property"), owned by Redwood City, containing 1.6066 <br />acres and Parcel Three, owned by the State of California, containing 0.7118 acres (the <br />Properties) are located within the Redwood City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Properties are described in further detail in the attached Exhibit <br />B which is made a part hereof; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Properties were created by excess right- of- way when the <br />California Department of Transportation ("CaITrans") reconfigured the Holly <br />Street/Redwood Shores Parkway/US 101 Interchange; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, San Carlos has recently reconstructed Sky Way along its entire <br />length including an approximately 570 lineal foot section within Redwood City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Airport Way is presently in a deteriorating condition and subject to <br />periodic flooding due to inadequate drainage facilities located near the intersection of <br />Redwood Shores Parkway and Airport Way; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, San Carlos desires to reconstruct Airport Way from the Sky Way <br />intersection to Redwood Shores Parkway; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, San Carlos plans to construct a "free right-turn lane" eastbound <br />from Redwood Shores Parkway to southbound Airport Way in accordance with the <br />Redwood Shores Traffic Improvement Program, a copy of which is on file with the <br />Office of the City Engineer of Redwood City; and <br /> <br />Atty/Agr/Agr.139 <br />100303 <br />
