<br />R.EG:yc:9/22/65 <br />9/28/65 <br /> <br />::"i.lfl:L <br />lJl(j0H~n <br /> <br />ORD..!NANCE <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ADDING ARTICLE IV (COMMENCING AT SECTION <br />11.30) TO CHAPTER 11 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, RELATING TO THE FORMATION OF UNDERGROUND UTILITY <br />DISTRICTS AND THE INSTALLATION OF UNDERGROUND UTILITIES <br />IN SUCH DISTRICTS AND IN SUBDIVISIONS <br /> <br />N o. <br /> <br />,-11 '~~-\l f~ <br />...L 1&/ ..l~~-~" <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Article IV ( commencing at Section 11.30) is <br /> <br />hereby added to Chapter 11 of the Code of the City of Redwood <br /> <br />City to read as follows: <br /> <br />"ARTICLE IV. UNDERGROUND UTILITIES <br />DIVISION 1. GENERAL <br /> <br />"Section 11.30 <br /> <br />The following terms shall, for purposes <br /> <br />of this article, have the meanings ascribed to them in this <br /> <br />section except where the context clearly requires a different <br /> <br />meaning: <br /> <br />" (a) 'Commission' shall mean the Public Utilities <br />Commission of the State of California. <br /> <br />"(b) 'Poles, overhead wires and associated overhead <br />structures' shall mean poles, towers, supports, <br />wires, conductors, guys, stubs, platforms, cross- <br />arms, braces, transformers, insulators, cut-outs, <br />switches, communication circuits, appliances, <br />attachments, and appurtenances located above <br />ground, upon, along, across, or over the streets, <br />alleys and ways of the City, and used or useful <br />in supplying electric, communication or similar <br />associated service. <br /> <br />"(c) 'streets, alleys or ways' shall include public <br />rights of way of every nature including highways, <br />public utility easements, and other public easements <br />in which overhead utility facilities may be installed. <br /> <br />"(d) 'Underground Utility District' or 'District' shall <br />mean an area in the City within which poles and <br />overhead wires and associated overhead structures <br />are prohibited by ordinance adopted pursuant to <br />the provisions of Division 2 of this article. <br /> <br />"(e) 'Utility' shall include all persons or entities <br />supplying electric, communication or similar or <br />associated service by means of electrical mater- <br />ials or devices. <br /> <br />"Section 11.31 <br /> <br />It shall be unlawful to erect, construct, <br /> <br />place, keep, maintain, continue, employ or operate any pole, <br />
