10/5/98 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 13471 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION FINDING THAT THE PUBLIC INTEREST AND <br /> NECESSITY REQUIRE THE IMMEDIATE EXPENDITURE OF <br /> PUBLIC FUNDS TO SAFEGUARD LIFE, HEALTH AND <br /> PROPERTY; SUSPENDING BIDDING PROCEDURES AND <br /> AUTHORIZNG AND DIRECTION THE EXECUTION OF <br /> CONTRACTS OR OTHER DOCUMENTS FOR THE <br /> PERFORMANCE OF EMERGENCY DREDGING OF THE <br /> CULVERTS OF CORDILLERAS CREEK AT INDUSTRIAL WAY <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. Findinl:le. This Council hereby finds that: <br /> <br />(a) on or about August 12, 1998, the City of Redwood City submitted an <br /> <br /> application to the California Department of Fish and Game entitled, <br /> "Notification of Removal of Materials and/or Alteration of Lake, River, or <br /> Streambed Bottom, or Margin", requesting a permit to remove debris and <br /> dirt from the Cordilleras Creek bed and culverts at Industrial Way; <br /> <br />(b) on or about September 3, 1998, the City of Redwood City and the <br /> California Department of Fish and Game conducted an on-site review of <br /> Cordilleras Creek; the California Department of Fish and Game granted <br /> the requested permit to the City of Redwood City; <br /> <br />(c) said dirt and debris blocked the natural drainage flow and caused creek <br /> bank instability and erosion, resulting in flooding of public and private <br /> property in the immediate vicinity during the wet-weather season of 1997- <br /> <br /> 98. <br />Re~-S~ 1 <br />G:~shared~redwood~cou ncil <br />FXS:djk <br /> <br /> <br />
