<br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2007 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Slusser, Vice Chairperson White, <br />Commissioners Joseph, Sargent, Swope, Truscelli and Wright <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Nancy Kaiser, Beth Altschuler <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendent Gary Hover, <br />Superintendent Chris Beth, Administrative Assistant Denise Monroe <br /> <br />Chairperson Bob Slusser called the regular meeting of the Park and <br />Recreation Commission to order at 7:30pm in Room 1 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the November meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />There was no correspondence. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - PARK NEEDS ASSESSMENT, OVERVIEW AND INPUT <br /> <br />Project Manager Nancy Kaiser of MIG, Inc. gave an overview of the park <br />needs assessment project estimating it would take approximately one year to <br />complete the process. She spoke about different aspects of the needs <br />assessment project which will include: recognizing issues and changes, <br />embracing opportunities, key data collection, outreach plan preparation, civic <br />leader and staff engagement, community input on issues and priorities, <br />neighborhood assessment for determining equity issues, and project <br />outcomes. <br /> <br />Ms. Kaiser received comments and feedback from the Commissioners <br />concerning who should be involved in the park needs assessment process; <br />what visions the Commission had for involving the public; and what features <br />they felt were missing in our parks; and what they valued in our parks. <br /> <br />Ms. Kaiser stated that all information collected this evening would be <br />analyzed to prepare for the next steps in the needs assessment process. She <br />provided the Commissioners with a "Kick-off" survey and asked for their <br />input. <br />
