<br />CG. . djg-c 5/6/82 <br />OD1.n;l'!ii! <br />I\Il:4ll ~nL. <br /> <br />MAY 1 7 1982 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />9115 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING ADOPTION OF UTILITY REGULATIONS <br />BY THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION RELATING TO STREET <br />LIGHTING <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the utility rates charged for street lighting <br /> <br />by utilities regulated by the Public Utilities Commission do <br /> <br />not reflect the act~ual energy used by the street lights; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, local agencies are discouraged from acquiring <br /> <br />the components of utility-owned street light systems because <br /> <br />existing procedures for their acquisition do not facilitate <br /> <br />such acquisition; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, permission for the use of utility poles by local <br /> <br />agencies have been discouraged or have had conditions imposed <br /> <br />in connection with the granting of such permission which make <br /> <br />such use unfeasible; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the method of valuation utilized by utilities <br /> <br />for their street lighting facilities in connection with <br /> <br />proposed acquisitions thereof by local agencies does not reflect <br /> <br />the actual cost to the utilities of the initial acquisition of <br /> <br />such facilities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, utilities do not allow energy-conserving means of <br /> <br />lumination in their street light systems other than high pressure <br /> <br />sodium vapor street lights; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />That the Public Utilities Commission adopt regulations <br /> <br />a) That utilities not be permitted to charge rates for <br />street lighting that do not reflect the actual amount <br />of energy used by such street lighting. <br /> <br />9115 <br />
