12/21/2010 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15074 <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING CONVEYANCE OF THE CITY <br /> STRIP PROPERTY FRONTING 20 AND 80 CHEMICAL WAY TO THE <br /> REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Redwood City ( "Agency ") <br /> is carrying out the Redevelopment Plan (the "Redevelopment Plan ") for Redwood City <br /> Redevelopment Project Area No. 2 (the "Redevelopment Project "); and <br /> WHEREAS, in furtherance of the Redevelopment Plan the Agency has been <br /> working on creating an economically viable and vibrant downtown area consistent with <br /> the City of Redwood City ( "City ") General Plan and Downtown Precise Plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo ( "County ") desires to construct new or <br /> expand additional jail facilities ( "Replacement Jail Facilities ") and, in addition to its <br /> consideration of a site owned by the County located within the downtown area of the <br /> Redevelopment Project, County is considering a site proposed by the City located <br /> outside the downtown area on Chemical Way within Woodhouse Industrial Park <br /> ( "Woodhouse Industrial Park Property "); and <br /> WHEREAS, Agency and City believe additional jail facilities in the downtown <br /> area of the Redevelopment Project would hinder Agency's redevelopment efforts in the <br /> downtown area; and <br /> WHEREAS, County's consideration of the Woodhouse Industrial Park Property <br /> for the Replacement Jail Facilities may also include relocation of the existing Women's <br /> Correctional Center located in the downtown area of the Redevelopment Project, which <br /> would further contribute to achieving the Agency's goals and objectives for the <br /> downtown area of the Redevelopment Project; and <br /> WHEREAS, City owns two parcels adjacent to the Woodhouse Industrial Park <br /> Property, generally described as Lot "A" and Lot "B" as shown on that certain map <br /> entitled "Woodhouse Industrial Park, Redwood City, California ", Filed in the office of the <br /> County Recorder of San Mateo, State of California, on June 17, 1966 in Book 65 of <br /> Maps at Page 3, designated as San Mateo County Assessor Parcel Nos. 052 - 392 -230 <br /> and 052 - 392 -180 (collectively, the "City Strips Property "), as generally shown on the <br /> "A.L.T.A. /A.C.S.M. Land Title Survey, Woodhouse Industrial Park, City of Redwood <br /> City, County of San Mateo, State of California," attached hereto as Exhibit A and <br /> incorporated herein; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County has identified the City Strips Property as being additional <br /> land required by the County in order to develop the Replacement Jail Facilities on the <br /> Woodhouse Industrial Park Property; and <br /> ATTY /RESO /RESO.2075 #15074 <br /> 120810 1 MUFF #401 <br />
