12/21/2010 ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 15074 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING CONVEYANCE OF THE CITY STRIP PROPERTY FRONTING 20 AND 80 CHEMICAL WAY TO THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Redwood City ( "Agency ") is carrying out the Redevelopment Plan (the "Redevelopment Plan ") for Redwood City Redevelopment Project Area No. 2 (the "Redevelopment Project "); and WHEREAS, in furtherance of the Redevelopment Plan the Agency has been working on creating an economically viable and vibrant downtown area consistent with the City of Redwood City ( "City ") General Plan and Downtown Precise Plan; and WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo ( "County ") desires to construct new or expand additional jail facilities ( "Replacement Jail Facilities ") and, in addition to its consideration of a site owned by the County located within the downtown area of the Redevelopment Project, County is considering a site proposed by the City located outside the downtown area on Chemical Way within Woodhouse Industrial Park ( "Woodhouse Industrial Park Property "); and WHEREAS, Agency and City believe additional jail facilities in the downtown area of the Redevelopment Project would hinder Agency's redevelopment efforts in the downtown area; and WHEREAS, County's consideration of the Woodhouse Industrial Park Property for the Replacement Jail Facilities may also include relocation of the existing Women's Correctional Center located in the downtown area of the Redevelopment Project, which would further contribute to achieving the Agency's goals and objectives for the downtown area of the Redevelopment Project; and WHEREAS, City owns two parcels adjacent to the Woodhouse Industrial Park Property, generally described as Lot "A" and Lot "B" as shown on that certain map entitled "Woodhouse Industrial Park, Redwood City, California ", Filed in the office of the County Recorder of San Mateo, State of California, on June 17, 1966 in Book 65 of Maps at Page 3, designated as San Mateo County Assessor Parcel Nos. 052 - 392 -230 and 052 - 392 -180 (collectively, the "City Strips Property "), as generally shown on the "A.L.T.A. /A.C.S.M. Land Title Survey, Woodhouse Industrial Park, City of Redwood City, County of San Mateo, State of California," attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein; and WHEREAS, the County has identified the City Strips Property as being additional land required by the County in order to develop the Replacement Jail Facilities on the Woodhouse Industrial Park Property; and ATTY /RESO /RESO.2075 #15074 120810 1 MUFF #401
