RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY 1) ACCEPTING THE HAZARD MITIGATION GRANT PROGRAM AWARD OF $3, 000, 000 FOR A TOTAL PROJECT BUDGET OF $4, 083, 355 FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) AND THE CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR'S OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES (CAL OES) AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE GRANT AWARD AGREEMENT AND RELATED CONTRACT DOCUMENTS; 2) INCREASING FISCAL YEAR 2013-2014 CAPITAL OUTLAY FUND REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES BY $3, 000, 000 TO ACCOMMODATE THE GRANT

Bayshore Road and mainly serves the Friendly Acres neighborhood; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Friendly Acres neighborhood has a long history of repetitive <br /> flooding from inadequate pumping capacity; and <br /> WHEREAS, the improvement of the 5th Avenue Pump Station is one of the <br /> many-prong approaches to mitigating the flooding of the greater regional Bayfront <br /> watershed; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program is a highly selective and <br /> competitive grant that will enable the City to complete the 5t" Avenue Pump Station <br /> Improvement Project, which is an essential project to increase flood protection for the <br /> area; and <br /> WHEREAS, on February 4, 2014 staff received an award letter from FEMA and <br /> Cal OES approving a grant funding budget for the total requested project cost of <br /> $4,083,355. The Federal grant share is $3,000,000, and the City share is $1,083,355. <br /> The City will have 36 months, or by January 14, 2017, to complete the project; and <br /> ATTY/RE50.2960/ACCEPTING AWARD&APPROPRIATION FUNDS RESO.#15333 <br /> REV:02-24-14 VR MO#505 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
