07/28/2014 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15357 <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY 1) <br /> ACCEPTING THE CONSTRUCTION PHASE OF THE SAFE ROUTES TO <br /> SCHOOL GRANT AWARD OF $578,000 FOR A GRANT AWARD OF <br /> $634,500 FROM THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF <br /> TRANSPORTATION (CALTRANS) AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br /> MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE RELATED CONTRACT DOCUMENTS; 2) <br /> INCREASING FISCAL YEAR 2014-2015 VARIOUS TRANSPORTATION <br /> GRANTS REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES BY $578,000 TO <br /> ACCOMMODATE THE GRANT <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY, CALIFORNIA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> WHEREAS, the City has worked for a number of years with the residents around <br /> Hoover Community School and the with the school community to make it safer for <br /> people to walk and bike; and; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City submitted a grant application to fund the design and <br /> construction of various pedestrian and bicycle measures to increase safety for children <br /> walking and biking to school; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Safe Routes to School Grant Program is a highly selective and <br /> competitive grant that will enable the City to implement these improvements; and <br /> WHEREAS, the design phase of the Hoover Safe Routes to School Project has <br /> been completed following a technical and community driven process; and <br /> WHEREAS, on May 29, 2014 staff received authorization to proceed with <br /> construction from Caltrans, approving the use of the remaining $578,000 in grant <br /> funding for the total grant of$634,500; and <br /> REV:07-14-14 RESO.#15357 <br /> ATTY/RES0.3000/HOOVER SAFE ROUTES MUFF#304 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
