09/12/2016 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15522 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CiTY APPROVING POLICY AND GUIDELINES FOR TRAFFIC CALMING <br /> ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS <br /> WHEREAS, "traffic calmin " has been reco nized b rofessional traffic engineers <br /> 9 <br /> 9 YP <br /> as suitable design features for providing traffic safety under appropriate circumstances; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council adopted a Policy and Guidelines for Speed Hump <br /> Use (the "Speed Hump Guidelines") on December 8, 1997; and <br /> WHEREAS, that certain document entitled, "City of Redwood City Policy and <br /> Guidelines for Traffic Calming on Residential Streets", prepared by City staff, has been <br /> presented to, and reviewed by, this Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, said Policy and Guidelines for Traffic Calming on Residential Streets <br /> describes appropriate roadway circumstances and design requirements for traffic calming <br /> improvements applicable in the City of Redwood City; and <br /> WHEREAS, this Council desires to approve said Policy and Guidelines for Traffic <br /> Calming on Residential Streets and replace the Speed Hump Guidelines; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1. The City Council hereby adopts the City of Redwood City Policy and Guidelines <br /> for Traffic Calming on Residential Streets in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A <br /> and incorporated herein by reference. The Policy and Guidelines for Traffic <br /> Calming on Residential Streets shall replace the Speed Hump Guidelines. <br /> 2. The City Council hereby finds that adopting the City of Redwood City Policy and <br /> Guidelines for Traffic Calming on Residential Streets is exempt from the California <br /> Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15061(b)(3) of the CEQA <br /> Guidelines because it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the <br /> activity in question may have a significant effect on the environment. <br /> 3. The proper officers of the City are hereby authorized and directed to do any and <br /> all things and take any and all action, which they, or any of them, may deem <br /> necessary or advisable in order to effect the intent of this Resolution. <br /> 4.
