01/23/2017 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15558 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY APPROVING A GENERAL PLAN MAP AMENDMENT TO <br />DESIGNATE A PORTION OF SANDPIPER PARK PUBLIC FACILITY <br />(PF) FOR THE PUMP STATION AND JOINT -USE OF A NEW <br />SANDPIPER SCHOOL CLASSROOM BUILDING <br />WHEREAS, The City of Redwood City (City) owns a plot of real property located <br />at 797 Redwood Shores Parkway (the "Property'); and <br />WHEREAS, the Belmont -Redwood Shores School District (the "District") seeks <br />disposition of City property in order to develop a new 13,000 square foot two-story <br />classroom building on City -owned property to accommodate grades K -8th for Sandpiper <br />School and seeks to enter into an amended Joint Use Agreement with the City related to <br />such classroom building (the "Project"); and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Redwood City (the "Planning <br />Commission") is empowered by Article Xl, Section 18.60, et. seq. (General Plan <br />Amendment) of the Redwood City Municipal Code, to consider and recommend the <br />amendments to the General Plan to the City Council of the City of Redwood City (the "City <br />Council'); and <br />WHEREAS, on December 6, 2016, the Planning Commission conducted a public <br />hearing, in accordance with all applicable requirements of the State Planning and Zoning <br />Law and the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance and, in accordance with Redwood City <br />Municipal Code, Section 18.61 adopted Resolution 16-22 to initiate consideration of a <br />General Plan Amendment from Park (P) to Public Facility (PF) in order to accommodate <br />the Project (General Plan Amendment); and <br />WHEREAS, on December 6, 2016, the Planning Commission considered and <br />adopted Resolution 16-23, recommending that the City Council approve a Mitigated <br />Negative Declaration and a Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program for the Project <br />prepared in accordance with the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act <br />(CEQA); and <br />WHEREAS, on December 6, 2016, the Commission conducted a public hearing, <br />in accordance with all applicable requirements of the State Planning and Zoning Law, the <br />Redwood City Municipal Code, and the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance, and adopted <br />Resolution 16-24 recommending that the City Council approve the General Plan <br />Amendment as illustrated in Exhibit A Attached to this resolution and incorporated herein <br />by reference; and <br />ATTY/RESO.0008/CC RESO ADOPTING THE APPROVAL OF THE GENERAL PLAN -SANDPIPER SCHOOL RESO.
