<br />11/24/2008 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14911 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY TO AMEND THE STRATEGIC GENERAL PLAN OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY TO CHANGE THE GENERAL PLAN LAND USE MAP <br />TEXT OF PROPERTIES GENERALLY LOCATED IN THE VICINITY OF <br />CEDAR AND MAIN STREETS TO "HEAVY COMMERCIAL-MIXED <br />USE" <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the properties at 104 and 112 Cedar Street (formerly Assessor's <br />Parcel Numbers 053-188-050 and 053-188-060, respectively, on May 20, 2008, <br />Planning Commission meeting, now a single parcel with Assessor's Parcel Number <br />053-188-080), vacant lots both owned by the Mental Health Association of San Mateo <br />County ("MHA"), have an existing general plan land use designation of "Heavy <br />Commercial;" and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, MHA plans to develop a 15-unit affordable rental housing project at <br />104 and 112 Cedar Street; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, implementation of the Mental Health Association's plan to develop a <br />15-unit resdential project at 104 and 112 Cedar Street requires the amendment of the <br />Strategic General Plan of the City of Redwood City ("General Plan") land use <br />designations of those properties, as shown on the attached Exhibit "A", from "Heavy <br />Commercial" to "Heavy Commercial-Mixed Use;" and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the properties at 128-132 Cedar Street and 1406 Main Street <br />consist of one parcel (Assessor's Parcel Number 053-188-010) and are currently <br />developed with mixed use commercial and residential buildings; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the property at 1414 Main Street (Assessor's Parcel Number 053- <br />188-020) is currently developed with rooming/boarding houses; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these neighboring properties at 128-132 Cedar Street, 1406 Main <br />Street and 1414 Main Street are currently developed with a variety of residential uses <br />that are nonconforming with their current "Heavy Commercial" land use designation that <br />does not permit for residential land uses; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City desires to update and amend the General Plan land use <br />designation of the properties at 128-132 Cedar Street, 1406 Main Street and 1414 Main <br />Street from "Heavy Commercial" to "Heavy Commercial-Mixed Use," as shown on the <br />attached Exhibit "A," to reflect their current development and to bring these properties <br />into conformance; and <br /> <br />A TTY/RESO/RESO.1873 <br />111608 <br /> <br />14911 <br />Muff # 601 <br />
