0 R I G I N A L 4/24/00 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2191 <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE ADDING ARTICLE XV (COMMENCING WITH <br /> SECTION 18.244) TO CHAPTER 18 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br /> OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION IMPACT <br /> FEES FOR NEW DEVELOPMENT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council, concerned about increasing traffic volumes and <br />congestion, and desiring an equitable and uniform method for each new development to <br />bear a proportionate share of citywide improvements that mitigate the traffic impacts of <br />development, authorized preparation of a Redwood City Traffic Impact Mitigation Fee <br />Study by Fehr & Peers Associates, Inc., dated February 18, 2000 (the "Study"); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the SIudy identified the required transportation improvements to <br />mitigate impacts caused by new residential and non-residential development within the <br />City of Redwood City for a 20-year period; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, development creates demand for additional public street <br />improvements, traffic reduction measures, and pedestrian, bicycle and transit <br />improvements; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has determined that the impact fees to be imposed <br />pursuant to this ordinance will not be expended on improvements necessary to <br />eliminate deficiencies caused by existing development and regional through traffic and <br />shall not be used for routine maintenance or operation of public streets; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the impact fees to be imposed pursuant to this ordinance shall be <br />used to improve public streets, provide traffic reduction measures and improve or <br />provide pedestrian, bicycle and transit facilities that will reasonably benefit new <br /> <br /> Sh/CounciVOrcl ]. <br /> Ord-105 <br /> FXS/ss <br /> 03/~8/00 <br /> DES:rg:04/13/OOR; 04/17/00R <br /> <br /> <br />
