<br />11/24/2008 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14910 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH OTHER LOCAL <br />ENTITIES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE SMART CORRIDORS PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on November 10, 2008, the San Mateo City/County Association of <br /> <br />Governments (C/CAG) made a presentation to the City Council of Redwood City on the 2020 <br /> <br />Peninsula Gateway Corridor Study, which recommended the implementation of the San Mateo <br /> <br />County Smart Corridors Project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the C/CAG is the sponsor agency for the development and implementation <br /> <br />of the Smart Corridors Project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Smart Corridors Project is a cooperative effort among various local <br /> <br />jurisdictions, and countywide and regional transportation agencies; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the goal of the Smart Corridors Project is to implement an incident <br /> <br />management program to divert and relieve traffic from Highway 101 in case of emergencies by <br /> <br />deploying intelligent transportation system elements in order to manage traffic congestion; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, C/CAG seeks to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with <br /> <br />all jurisdictions along Highway 101 in San Mateo County, including the City of Redwood City, <br /> <br />to acknowledge the Smart Corridors Project and agree to work cooperatively in the <br /> <br />development of the Smart Corridors Project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, execution of the MOU allows the Smart Corridors Project to be <br /> <br />implemented within the City's jurisdiction; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, future agreements will address details related to the maintenance and <br /> <br />operations of the Smart Corridors Project. <br /> <br />A TTY IRESO/RESO.1869 <br />111208 <br /> <br />14910 <br />Muff # 304 <br />
