03/08/2021 RESOLUTION NO. 15940 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ESTABLISHING THE CITY COUNCIL SUB -COMMITTEE ON EQUITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Redwood City believes in the values of equity, equal justice and equal opportunity, and is dedicated to diversity, inclusion and equal justice as core parts of who the City is and what the City stands for; and WHEREAS, on October 12, 2020, the City Council amended the Redwood City Strategic Plan to include the foundational principle, "Redwood City will put equity first, urging a collective restart so that policies serve the entire community,-" and WHEREAS, with the adoption of Resolution 15877 on August 10, 2020, the City Council resolved that the City would lead by example through the equitable treatment of all people by City officials and departments, commit to ongoing review of City policies to ensure equal treatment of all residents, and continue to improve in these areas in all City operations and promote these values in the community; and WHEREAS, the establishment of a City Council Sub -Committee on Equity and Social Justice will facilitate the pursuit by the City Council of these values and commitments. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: 1. City Council Sub -Committee on Equity and Social Justice. The City Council Sub -Committee on Equity and Social Justice (hereinafter the "Sub -Committee"), consisting of three (3) members of the City Council, is hereby established. Said member(s) shall be appointed by and at the discretion of the Mayor to one-year terms and may serve multiple terms but may not serve for two terms in succession.
