04/26/2021 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15943 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY SUPPORTING THE ROOSEVELT AVENUE QUICK -BUILD <br />TRAFFIC CALMING IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING <br />THE SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION TO THE METROPOLITAN <br />TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR SAFE AND SEAMLESS <br />MOBILITY QUICK STRIKE PROGRAM FUNDING <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City (Sponsor) has identified traffic safety <br />concerns and poor driver behavior on Roosevelt Avenue and is committed to increasing <br />the safety of people walking and riding bicycles on and across this corridor; and <br />WHEREAS, the Sponsor has developed the Roosevelt Avenue Quick -build Traffic <br />Calming Implementation Project (Project) to install traffic calming measures and provide <br />new and improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities that will reduce speeding, improve <br />driver behavior, increase visibility of vulnerable road users and encourage more people <br />to choose walking and bicycling for trips in Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS, it will cost $853,000 to implement the Project; and <br />WHEREAS, the Sponsor seeks $755,000 for Project implementation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) asked Bay Area <br />Counties' Transportation Agencies to nominate projects for the Safe and Seamless <br />Mobility Quick Strike Program funding on February 5, 2021; and <br />WHEREAS, the City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County <br />(CCAG) has nominated the Project for funding by the MTC Safe and Seamless Mobility <br />Quick Strike Program; and <br />WHEREAS, MTC requires a governing board resolution from the Sponsor for the <br />following items - <br />1 . <br />tems: <br />1.
