ATTY/RESO.0092/PC RESO 970 EDGEWOOD <br />REV: 09-30-2020 PR <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 20-11 <br /> <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL <br />DESIGNATE 970 EDGEWOOD ROAD A HISTORIC LANDMARK AND <br />APPROVE A HISTORIC PRESERVATION AGREEMENT <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on April 27, 2020, Joe and Susan Raymond (Property <br />Owner/Applicant) applied for a Mills Act Contract (Project) at 970 Edgewood Road <br />(APN: 052-010-080) in Redwood City, California; and <br />WHEREAS, on August 13, 2020, the Historic Resources Advisory Committee <br />(HRAC) held a duly noticed public hearing in accordance with all applicable <br />requirements of the State Planning and Zoning Law and the Redwood City Municipal <br />Code to consider the Project; and <br />WHEREAS, the HRAC has determined that the property meets Criterion B, C, <br />and D for designation as an historic landmark according to the historic designation <br />criteria established by the Redwood City Historic Preservation Ordinance (Chapter 40 of <br />the Redwood City Code) and recommended by a vote of 3-0 local landmark <br />designation; and <br />WHEREAS, the HRAC recommended that a Historic Preservation Agreement <br />(Mills Act Contract) be approved for 970 Edgewood Road by a vote of 3-0; and <br />WHEREAS, on September 25, 2020, a public hearing notice of the Planning <br />Commission hearing was published in the San Mateo Daily Journal and sent to the <br />Property Owner; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on October 6, 2020, the Planning Commission held a duly noticed <br />public hearing in accordable with all applicable requirements of the State Planning and <br />Zoning Law, the Redwood City Municipal Code, and the Zoning Ordinance to consider <br />the Project; and <br /> <br />WHERAS, the residence and property located at 970 Edgewood Road, Redwood <br />City, California does meet the historic designation criteria established by the Redwood <br />City Historic Preservation Ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />Criterion B: It is identified with persons or events significant in local, State or <br />national history, because the house was the home of Ray and Nita Sprangler, <br />who were both notable figures in Redwood City and Peninsula history.
