1/11/2010 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14994 <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THE <br />POSITION OF INTERIM CITY ATTORNEY AND APPOINTING ROY C. <br />ABRAMS TO THE POSITION OF INTERIM CITY ATTORNEY <br />WHEREAS, in December of 2009, City Attorney Stan Yamamoto announced his <br />intention to resign on January 15, 2010; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor authorized an ad hoc committee of the City Council and the <br />Human Resources Director to recruit and select candidates for an Interim City Attorney; and <br />WHEREAS, the ad hoc committee interviewed candidates and recommends Roy C. <br />Abrams for the appointment of Interim City Attorney effective January 18, 2010; and <br />WHEREAS, Abrams is a former City Attorney and possesses the specialized skills and <br />experience necessary to fulfill the duties of the Interim City Attorney position. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City <br />as follows: <br />1. Roy C. Abrams is hereby appointed Interim City Attorney of the City of Redwood <br />City from and after January 18, 2010 for a term not to exceed six months. <br />2. The terms of employment for the position of Interim City Attorney are as follows: <br />a. The Interim City Attorney position will be a limited term appointment not to <br />exceed six months. <br />b. The Interim City Attorney will fulfill the duties of City Attorney and assist in the <br />transition process while the recruitment for a permanent City Attorney is <br />conducted. <br />c. The Interim City Attorney will work on an hourly basis at the rate of $170 per <br />hour. <br />d. The Interim City Attorney will receive no benefits, including health care, <br />401(a) deferred compensation contribution, allowances for vacation, <br />overtime, sick leave, holidays, or any other benefits as prescribed in the <br />City's executive Management Summary of Benefits. <br />ATTY /RESO /RESO.1974 14994 <br />010710 Muff # 903 <br />
