MINUTE ORDER <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 27, 1995 <br /> MO. 95-067 <br /> <br />CITY CLERK DEPARTMENT <br />Redwood City <br /> <br />DATE: March 28, 1995 <br /> <br />Attention: City Manager <br /> City Attorney <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Proclamation Acknowledging Achievements of the John Gill School <br /> Intergenerational Program (207) <br /> <br />Meeting of the Council of the City of Redwood City on March 27, 1995 <br /> <br />Present: Councilmembers Buchan, Hartnett, Howard, La Berge, Sanfllipo <br /> and Mayor Gasparini <br /> <br />Absent: Steinfeld <br /> <br />The following motion was made and entered on the Minutes: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gasparini read the proclamation and thanked Civic Cultural <br /> Commission Chairman Redington, the Civic Cultural Commission for its <br /> support of the Interngenerational Program. Mayor Gasparini asked that the <br /> Commission Members, John Gill Principal and faculty, the program's seniors, <br /> Linda Griffiths, Recreation Supervisor Senior Center, to stand up and be <br /> applauded for their commitment to this very successful program. <br /> <br /> Mayor Gasparini introduced the Program's co-founder Pam Thornburg, <br /> senior volunteer Jean Nanee and Carol Milestone, 3rd grade teacher, and <br /> participant in the program. Ms. Thornburgh provided a brief history of the ten- <br /> year old program that brings children and seniors together to learn about life and <br /> share experiences that teach and delight, and allow children to learn the value of <br /> what is inside a person and how much they can learn from personal histories. <br /> Mrs. Thornburg described how the Program has expanded to now address the <br /> needs of "at risk" children. <br /> <br /> <br />
