Beeause both agencies are each <br /> separate and individual clients of LCW,we informed you that infarmed written consei�t froin � <br /> bath age�r�cies is required before LCW can accept trie assignn�ents. Such is the purpose of this <br /> letter. <br /> We have been informed by San Carlos that its Council has autharized staff to begin <br /> negotiating a contract for fire services with Redwood City. It is presently contemplated that <br /> upoiz contracting out services,a11 Fire Department employees of 5an Carlos will be laid off. San <br /> Carlas is asking LCW for advice and caunsel conceming San Carlas' and einployee rights and <br /> obligations pertaining to the layoffprocess,includfng the duty to meet and confer with affected <br /> empl�yee bargainit�g units,campliance with C4BRA,interpxetation of existing bargaani��.g <br /> agreeinents related to einployee ca,sh outs and retiree pension and health care beflefits, and all <br /> otlxer xxxatters within the statutory scope of bargaining that may be ixnplicated by the cont7ractizzg <br /> out of fire services.
