ORDINANCE N0. 96� AN ORDINANGE ESTABLISHING A BOARD OF BUILDIliTG REVIEW, PROVIDING FOR THE METHOD OF APPEAL AND PROVIDING FOA THE ADOPTION OF PROCEDURA�► RULES The Council of Redwood City does ordain as follows : Section l. Creation. There is hereby established a Redwood City Board of Building Review which shall consist of five rnembers who are qualified by e�cperience and training in the building con- struction fields and who shall serve without compensation. Section 2. Appointments. The members of the Board of Buildi ng Review shall be appointed by the City Council and shall hold office at tYa.e pleasure of the City Council. Section 3. Secretary. The Building Inspector sha.11 be the Secretary of the Board and shall keep perrnanent accurate records of all procsedings before the Soard and sha11 perform such administra- tive functions for t he Board as may be determine d by the Board. Section . �rocedure. The Board sha,ll elect a chairman and, by resolution, shall adopt rules providing for the holding of meetings and the eonducting of business, All meetings shall be conducted in aceordance with the provisions of Chapter 9 (co�.- mencing at Sec. 54950� of Part l, Division 2, Title 5 of the Goverr.�n.ent Code, Section 5, Powers. The Board shall determine the suitability of alternate materials and t�pes of eonstruction with respeet to meeting the standards an.d requirements of the Building Code, the Elactrical Code, the Plumbing Code and the Uniform Gas Code, as presently adopted by the Ci.ty of Redwood City and as said codes may be amended. All such determinations shall be for purposes of clarification and shall be of uniforir�. application throughout the City and shall not operate to create an excep tion from any ordinance or State law. , ... �
