PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 2007 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Slusser, Vice Chairperson White, Commissioners Joseph-Hover, Sargent, Swope, Truscelli and Wright COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None GUESTS PRESENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendent Gary Hover, Administrative Assistant Denise Monroe Chairperson Bob Slusser called the regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission to order at 7:30pm in Room 5 of the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the June meeting were approved as mailed. CORRESPONDENCE A newsletter was received from the California Association of Parks and Recreation Commissioners and Board Members. ITEM 1 — APPROVAL OF INITIAL PARK NEEDS ASSESSMENT STUDY Superintendent Hover reported the preliminary needs assessment study will be part of the August 27 City Council packet when the In-Lieu Park Fee will be presented. He reviewed several changes to the document with the Commissioners and stated that staff and the consultant will continue working on the preliminary document and will bring the final document back to Council for approval. The Commissioners provided feedback on the document including wanting more specifics and details; a map identifying where areas are deficient in parkland, improved language, and focusing on the conclusion. M/S Truscelli/Wright: To approve the preliminary needs assessment for recommendation to the City Council with the following changes: 1.) Under Conclusion, bullet point #2 needs to include specifics about neighborhood deficiencies according to the 3/1,000 parkland standard; 2.) Under Conclusion, bullet point #4 should include expansion; 3.) On Page 12, the narrative needs to be corrected; 4.) On Page 13, delete the reference to bounce house;
