Claire COUNCIL CHAMBER Council Member Georgi La Berge 1017 MIDDLEFIELD ROAD Council Member Matt Leipzig REDWOOD CITY Council Member Ira Ruskin REGULAR MEETING FIRST MEETING IN NEW COUNCIL CHAMBER AUGUST 25, 1997 The first Council meeting held at the new City Hall Council Chamber was preceded by a reception attended by approximately 70 people. At 7:20 p.m., Council members assembled in front of the Chamber's beautiful double doors and Mayor Hartnett and Vice Mayor Howard cut a red ribbon stretched across the entrance. The Council then invited everyone to join them for the fIrst Council -- meeting in the new Council Chamber. CALL TO ORDER - 7:30 p.m., Mayor Hartnett presiding ROLL CALL Council Members present: Buchan, Claire, Howard, La Berge, Leipzig, and Mayor Hartnett Council Members absent: Ruskin. (Mayor Hartnett advised that Councilman Ruskin had been called away to attend to his mother who lives in Florida.) Staff present: City Manager Everett, City Attorney Schricker, City Clerk Jorgenson and Assistant to the City Manager Moore, Police Chief Bolanos, Fire Chief Montenero, Fire Marshal Vella, Community Development Director Nelson, Library Director Chen, Senior Deputy City Clerk Kiely, Deputy City Clerk Bein, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Superintendent Hover and Supervisor Gibbons, Police Sergeant Matuszak, Planning and Redevelopment Manager Church, Cash Collection Services Manager Holmquist, Engineering Manager Patterson, Senior Civil Engineers Lynch and Chang, and Council Volunteer Balsamo -- REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 55 AUGUST 25, 1997 MINUTES Page NO. 499 PAGEl
