SWC:ky 3/16/32 ORITNAL O R D I N A N C E N 0. 1857 qp R 12 1982 ORDINANCE ADDING CHAPTER 41 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO FLOOD ZONE DEVELOPMENT THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Chapter 41 is hereby added to the Code of the City of Redwood City, to read as follows: "CHAPTER 41. FLOOD ZONE MANAGEMENT "Section 41.1. Title. This chapter shall be known as the Flood Zone Management Ordinance of the City of Redwood City. "Section 41.2. Findings and Purpose. The City Council does find and declare that certain areas of the city are subject to intermittent inundation which can result in loss of life, property, health and safety hazards, disruptions of commerce and public services, extraordinary public expenses for flood protec- tion and relief, and impairment of the tax base; all of which adversely affect the public health, safety and general welfare. It is the purpose of this chapter -to prevent or minimize such adverse effects and to enable owners and residents of property in such special flood hazard areas to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program, established by 42 U.S.C. 4001-4128. "Section 41.3. Warning and Disclaimer of Liability. This chapter does not imply that areas outside those designated as areas of special flood hazard, nor that uses permitted within areas designated as areas of special flood 'hazard will be free from flooding or flood damages. Furthermore, this chapter shall not create liability on the part of the city or of any officer or employee thereof for any damage which may result from or be related to flooding. "Section 41.4. Definitions. For purposes of this chapter, unless the context otherwise indicates, the following words and phrases shall have the meaning respectively ascribed to them:
