<br /> DES:yc:2/3/78 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> FEB 13 197B <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1742 <br /> <br /> --------- - - <br />ORDINANCE DETERMINING AND DECLARING END OF WATER SHORTAGE <br />EMERGENCY, REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1704, AND DECLARING <br />NECESSITY FOR EMERGENCY ENACTMENT HEREOF <br />THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. Findings and Determinations. The Council of <br />Redwood City hereby finds and determines that: <br />(a) On April 13, 1977, this Council adopted Ordinance No. 1704, <br /> entitled "Ordinance Determining and Declaring Water Shortage <br /> Emergency, Establishing Regulations and Restrictions on <br /> the Delivery and Consumption of Water, and Establishing <br /> Penalties for Violations Thereof." <br />(b) The generally prevailing condition of drought found and <br /> determined to exist as stated in said ordinance has, <br /> through Nature's kindness in providing rainfall substan- <br /> tially in excess of the formerly normal seasonal amounts, <br /> ended. <br />(c) Pursuant to agreement dated June 1, 1961, by and between <br /> the City of Redwood City, California, and the City and <br /> County of San Francisco, California, said City of <br /> Redwood City purchases water for municipal purposes for <br /> resale to customers and users of this water system. <br />(d) The City and County of San Francisco, acting by and <br /> through its Public Utilities Commission, has announced <br /> publicly the end of the water shortage emergency and the <br /> lack of necessity to continue water use restrictions for <br /> the conservation of water heretofore imposed by said City <br /> and County on its contractual water purchasers. <br />(e) The regulations, restrictions and penalties established <br /> pursuant to Ordinance No; 1704, above mentioned, are no <br /> longer necessary for the conservation of the water supply <br /> of the water system of the City of Redwood City, and <br /> were and are not so necessary from and after February 1, <br /> 1978. <br />SECTION 2. Repealer. Ordinance No. 1704, entitled "Ordinance <br />Determining and Declaring Water Shortage Emergency, Establishing <br />Regulations and Restrictions on the Delivery and Consumption of <br />Water, and Establishing Penalties for Violations Thereof," adopted <br />April 13, 1977, is hereby repealed. <br />SECTION 3. Operative Date. The provisions of this ordinance <br />shall be operative retroactive from and after February 1, 1978, <br />and the penalties or otffer remedies imposed by, or otherwise available <br /> 1742 <br /> 'T" <br />
