DES:yc:2/3/78 ORIGINAL FEB 13 197B ORDINANCE NO. 1742 --------- - - ORDINANCE DETERMINING AND DECLARING END OF WATER SHORTAGE EMERGENCY, REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1704, AND DECLARING NECESSITY FOR EMERGENCY ENACTMENT HEREOF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Findings and Determinations. The Council of Redwood City hereby finds and determines that: (a) On April 13, 1977, this Council adopted Ordinance No. 1704, entitled "Ordinance Determining and Declaring Water Shortage Emergency, Establishing Regulations and Restrictions on the Delivery and Consumption of Water, and Establishing Penalties for Violations Thereof." (b) The generally prevailing condition of drought found and determined to exist as stated in said ordinance has, through Nature's kindness in providing rainfall substan- tially in excess of the formerly normal seasonal amounts, ended. (c) Pursuant to agreement dated June 1, 1961, by and between the City of Redwood City, California, and the City and County of San Francisco, California, said City of Redwood City purchases water for municipal purposes for resale to customers and users of this water system. (d) The City and County of San Francisco, acting by and through its Public Utilities Commission, has announced publicly the end of the water shortage emergency and the lack of necessity to continue water use restrictions for the conservation of water heretofore imposed by said City and County on its contractual water purchasers. (e) The regulations, restrictions and penalties established pursuant to Ordinance No; 1704, above mentioned, are no longer necessary for the conservation of the water supply of the water system of the City of Redwood City, and were and are not so necessary from and after February 1, 1978. SECTION 2. Repealer. Ordinance No. 1704, entitled "Ordinance Determining and Declaring Water Shortage Emergency, Establishing Regulations and Restrictions on the Delivery and Consumption of Water, and Establishing Penalties for Violations Thereof," adopted April 13, 1977, is hereby repealed. SECTION 3. Operative Date. The provisions of this ordinance shall be operative retroactive from and after February 1, 1978, and the penalties or otffer remedies imposed by, or otherwise available 1742 'T"
