<br />DES/DAL: 2/6/91 <br /> <br />0 RIG I N A L <br /> <br />2/12/91 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />11478 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DETERMINING <br /> <br />THAT THE PUBLIC INTEREST REQUIRES THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A DOWNTOWN <br />BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA IN A PORTION OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 36500 ET SEQ. <br /> <br />OF THE STREETS AND <br /> <br />HIGHWAYS CODE; GIVING NOTICE OF ITS INTENTION TO DO SO; DESCRIBING <br /> <br />THE <br /> <br />BOUNDARIES <br /> <br />OF <br /> <br />THE <br /> <br />PROPOSED <br /> <br />AREA; <br /> <br />STATING <br /> <br />THE <br /> <br />TYPE <br /> <br />OF <br /> <br />IMPROVEMENTS, METHOD OF PROTESTING, METHOD AND BASIS OF LEVYING THE <br /> <br />ASSESSMENT, IN SUPPORT THEREOF; <br /> <br />AND SETTING THE TIME AND PLACE OF <br /> <br />A HEARING THEREON. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Downtown Parking and Business Improvement Area <br /> <br />No.1 (see exhibit A-3 for the boundaries) was established in 1968 <br /> <br />by Ordinance No. 1359 in accordance with the Parking and Business <br /> <br />Improvement Area Law of 1965 (Streets & Highways Code § 36000 et <br /> <br />seq.); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to expand the boundaries <br /> <br />of the District pursuant to superseding legislation; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said superseding legislation, Streets & Highways Code <br /> <br />§ 36500 et seq., provides for a procedure for the establishment of <br /> <br />Downtown <br /> <br />Parking <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />Business <br /> <br />Improvement Areas <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />for <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />operations thereof; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />a Formation Committee comprised of persons <br /> <br />from <br /> <br />"--'-""'_~h"""- <br />
