<br /> <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />Regular Meeting September 26, lQ50 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Ralph Case at 7:40 p.m. <br />Present were: Commissioners Anna Bennett Robb, Pasco Balzarini, <br />Clement Baume, Donald Bogie, William Hanley, Jack Poole. Visitors: <br />Jack MacDonald from the Taft Improvement Club; Harbor Master, John <br />Mackinhausen. Red Morton and Audrey Engelman. <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br /> <br />1. Discussion about turfing areas, on the Taft Elementary School <br />" grounds. The school is to provide the seeds, pipes etc., the rest <br />is up to the city. <br /> <br />MSC Poole and Hanley. Recommend that Pasco Balzarini as a committee <br />of one contact Mr. Spinas and Mr. MacDonald to talk over the plans re- <br />garding the area to be turfed. <br /> <br />. Discussion by Mr. MacDonald on providing recreation facilities <br />at Taft School. The I~rovement C1M is willing to give $1,000 <br />toward this project. They will have a fence built around the area <br />to provide outdoor recreation. He asked if it was the best thing to <br />do with the money to further recreation in the Taft School District <br />and asked the advice of the Recreation Commission. It was advised <br />that Pasco Balaarini, Andrew Spinas and iack MacDonald meet together <br />and talk over the recreation possibilities in that area. <br /> <br />Discussion on the Planning Commission. Mr. MacDonald explained <br />that there was a lack of understanding between the Park and Recreation <br />Commission and the Plannin~ Commission. The Park and Recreation <br /> <br />'- ,. <br /> <br />Commission states the Planning Commission a"pproves of sub-divided <br />land without taking into consideration recreation areas and therefore <br />there is no land provided for that p~rpose. MacDonald suggested the <br />Planning Commission give the Park and Recreation Comm,ission a map on <br />the land to be sub-divided so they could look it over and see the <br />possibilities for recreation areas. MacDonald is to see the planning <br />Commission about this plan. <br /> <br />COMMUNI CATION: <br /> <br />August 25th, from R. S. Dodge concerning the Yacht ~lub. It was <br />rumored that the club refused membership and that 50 per cent of the <br />members were not residents of Redwood City. John Mackinhausen, Harbor <br />Master, said he could see no reason for such statements. <br />Commission will check with the Commodore of the Sequoia Yacht <br />Club about the matter. <br /> <br />2. Swimming Pool Dedication. The swimming pool will not be <br />completed when expected. Mr. Hanley, Chairman of the Dedication <br />Committee, adivsed that no dedication program should be scheduled due <br />to the lateness of the year. <br />
