<br /> <br />Minutes of Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Park and Recreation C~lssion <br />Jooe 3, 1953,7:45 m . <br /> <br />On Roll Call the following were present; Chaiman Hir~ Stout, <br />C~misslon Members Catha~ine BraMan, Eloise C~pbell, Ralph Case, <br />Isadore Gold, William Hanley, Fred Hector. Also present was Perk <br />Superintendent Pasco Balzarini. - <br /> <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of May 5 were read, <br />corrections noted and accented as amended. <br />.¿, <br /> <br />An article in the magazine, "Park Maintenance", Many 1953 issue, <br />noting the recent gift"to Redwood City of Stulsaft Park by Mr. <br />Morris Stulsaft and the City's plans for development was read by <br />Secretary Hector and referred to the files. <br /> <br />- A letter to the Co~isslon fr~ Clarke J. Congdon, Chaiman <br />of the San Mateo County Recreation Commission, was read by <br />Secretary Hector. The subject was the proposed establishment of <br />a j~~ior college on the Coyote Point Park site. The subject <br />probl~ was discussed by the C~ission. Mr. Hanley reviewed value <br />of Coyote Point for recreation and need of preserving it for such <br />use. Motion b~T Hanley, second by Commissioner Hector that copy of <br />letter be sent to the City Council with a copy forwarded to the <br />County Recreation Commission approving the stand of the County <br />organization. Carried; Co~issioners Gold and Case voting No. <br /> <br />Mr. Len Tornell, representing the Westwood Terrace Improvement <br />Club, noted that staking had been done for terracing of Westwood' <br />Terrace park and asked for information on progress expected in <br />the near future. CÅ“missioner Gold infomed h~ that Sterling <br />Builders had arranged to stàrt grading within 24 hours of stmcing. <br />Agenda. <br /> <br />Mr. Jerry Verssen, representing Redwood Terrace Improvement <br />Club, appeared to obtain a statement on the status of the Maddux <br />nark. Chairman Stout reveiwed in brief. <br /> <br />. . <br /> <br />Mr. W.E. Ronan of Camino Villa Improvement Club inquired <br />regarding plans fo~ additional park in the Lenolt vicinity. He <br />stated that he had studied the area over and had found no area <br />over 100 feet by 100 feet in size. Unoficially, he stated that <br />his organization seemed to be of the opinion that Mezes Plaza is <br />an ample park to se.rve that neighborhood. Cn.airman Stout instructed <br />Secretary Hector to send a letter to each of the two improvement <br />clubs involved suggesting that they present any recommendations <br />they might have for an 8,ddi tional park area in their neighborhood <br />at the next regular meeting of the Commission. Agenda. <br /> <br />-I <br /> <br />Under the subject ~f new park areas Secretary Hector reported <br />that the tentative subdivision map to include the area North of <br />Stulsaft Park had not been presented to the Planning Commission <br />to date. This subdivision will encompass the projected Mud Lake <br />addition to Stulsaft Park. Motion seconded and carried by <br />Commissioners Hanley and Gold that 11 letter be sent to the Planning <br />Commission mth a copy t~ the City Manager, such letter to clarify <br />the B.rea recornrn.ended for acquisition by the Commission. <br /> <br />'I <br />; <br /> <br />299 <br />
