<br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETTING OF THE REDWOOD CITY <br />PARKS, and RECREATION COMISSION OF JANUARY 6, 1954 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman H. S. Stout at 7:50 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: Chairman H. S. Stout, Comrnissi oners Eloui se Cempbe 11, Ca.tharine <br />Brennan, Irving Gold, Vincent Rambo, Ralph Case. <br /> <br />The minutes of the December meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />A letter was read from City Clerk, Ralph Dodge stating that the City <br />Council had approved the swimming instruction rates to be increased to <br />$ 2.00 for 10 lessons. Mayor Granger stipulated that if the revenue fr~ <br />the pool is very great then he would recommend that the rates be reduced <br />in 1955. <br /> <br />A letter from the City Attorney relative to re~olution # 1621 whereas <br />the Com~ission will now consist of a seven member board, five men and <br />two women. Chalrman Stout ql1es tiolled the new set up as nothing mentioned <br />how many would consti tute a quorum. He requestec.1 the Secretary to wri te <br />the City Attorney asking him to stipulate that four members constitute a <br />quorum on the Park and Recreation Commission now that it is a seven membe] <br />board. Ordinance 752 supplements Ordinance 525 wherein the old ordinance <br />states that five members constitue a quorum. <br /> <br />Mrs. George Ashwell appeared before the Commission requesting that some <br />action be taken relative to the completion of Stafford Park property. <br />She referred mainly to the branch library and that ~ccording to the deed <br />if something is not done within a reasonable amount of time the property <br />may revert back to the heirs. She felt that this area is so located that <br /> <br />t.' . <br /> <br />it woula be quite beneficial to the residents of the area rather than to <br />have to cross the highway to get to the main library. <br />Chairman Stout appointed Commissioners Brennan and Campbell to a <br />committee to meet with the City Council Committee on Recreation and Miss <br />Ha.rpert Chief Librs.rian to see what may be done to get some action startec <br />on this proje ct. The conlmj~t tee was reques ted to report back at the <br />February meeting of their findillgs. <br /> <br />Commissioner Irving Gold reported that the l)ossibiJ_i t y of obta,ining a <br />topographical map of StulsRft Park will probably have to wait for a <br />while as the Engineering Department has over expended their fund.s and <br />cannot prepare it at this time. <br />Park Sutp Balzarini stated that somethin.g should be done in this area as <br />it is being built up very fast. He felt that in order" to do some plannin~ <br />of this park that this topographical map was necessary. <br /> <br />Park Supt Balzarini reported on the Maddux property stating that the City <br />Attorney said ev6,rything was ready to go, but it was being held up in the <br />City Engineers Office for additional information regarding streets and <br />sewers. Chairman Stout requested that Commissioner Hanley and Park Supt <br />Balzarini:i,seek addi tional information from the City Attorney B.nd endeavor <br />to get this pro ject under,vay and report back at the next regular meeting. <br /> <br />
