<br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />Rm~~ MEETING~ SEPT~æR I, 19~ <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission <br />was called to order by Chairman Irving Gold at 8:00 p.m. <br />Present: Catherine Brennan, Louise Tornell, Gerry Verssen, <br />Alyn Beals, William Hanley, Maurice Schutz, Irving Gold, <br />Ole Olson and Alfred Morton. <br /> <br />Minutes of the ~gust 4 meeting approved as read with the <br />correction on Page 2, Paragraph 4 to read: "Chaiman Gold <br />appointed William Hanley, Chairman, and Gerry Verssen and <br />Maurice-Schutz to a committe to investigate the re-establisbment <br />of berthing rates at Yacht Ha~or. <br /> <br />Asst. Park Supt. Olson spoke to Asst. City Engineer Moen <br />regarding the hazard at C~Mty Park. Mr. Moen advised that <br />the ,surveying gang has been sent out to set stakes, and the' <br />San Francisco Water Company will be notified of this action. <br /> <br />Chairman Gold reported progress is being made regarding the <br />. Union Cemetary. <br /> <br />C~lssloner mlll~ Hanley contacted Mr. Brophy and cMcœd <br />through a copy fo the deed for the city-qwned property <br />adjacent to eht YMCA property. This property was given to the <br />city for recreational use only, and cannot be traded, sold, <br />or leased without special permission from John McCarthy. <br /> <br />Commissioner Gerry Verssen advised that he had talked wi th <br />City Attorney Currie regarding the provisions in the Bement <br />will. In the will, i"t was" stated, that œrtaln funds were <br />to be given to charitable activities, not specifically named, <br />at the discretion of Pierce Coombes, executor. <br /> <br />Chairman Gold called Councilman Robert Spillers, who stated' <br />that Andrew Spinas gave approval for the use of the Hoover <br />S~öool grooods for the flying of model planes. <br />MSC by Louise Tornell and Catherine Brennan that the Commlssicn <br />recommend to the City Council that signs be placed in <br />Coo~ity Park, iMo~ing model plane hobbyists to use Hoover <br />School. <br /> <br /> <br />Chairman Gold reported on a meeting with Councilman William <br />Royer. AndÐew Spinas and Alfred Morton regarding the Hawes Park <br />switch. Another plan has been offered for consideration. with <br />the city retaing 1.1 acre fronting on Roosevelt Avenue, <br />turning over the rest of the acreage to the s.chool, amountl,~g <br />to 4.6 acres. ~s 1t~ is to be cur1ed 00 ~ age~a. . <br /> <br />Chairman Gold advised that stakes have been set out at Yacht <br />Harbor, and the fill for the, new levee has begun. <br /> <br /> <br />" --. <br /> <br />81 <br /> <br />
