<br />REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 7, 1955

<br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Co~ssion was called to
<br />order by Chairmw Irvi~ Gold at 8:00 p.m. Present: CatMrine Brennw,

<br />Louise Tornell, Gerry Versseen, William Hanley, Maurice ~chultz, AIm Beals
<br />Irving Gold, Pasco Balzarini and Alfred Morton.
<br />
<br />The following corrections were made in the ~nutes of August 3. Page 1,
<br />Paragraph 10, amended as follows: Port Engineer instead of City Engineer.
<br />Page 2, Para~~h 6 the words Washington School shoold be del~ted.
<br />MSC Maurice Schultz and Gerry Verssen that the minutes of August 3 be
<br />approved as corrected.
<br />
<br />Correspondence from City Clerk Dodge as follows:
<br />
<br />a. City Attorney has been~rected to start negotiations to acquire
<br />lots 23 to 28, Block 37, Central Park #2.
<br />b. The City Council has approved the recommendation that the child-
<br />ren of San Mateo County Receiving Home be allowed to use the swimming
<br />facilities at Community Park.
<br />c. The City Attorney is taking necessary steps to have the minia-
<br />ture railroad tracks removed from Community Park by October 1.
<br />d. City Council has approved the recommendation relatiye to planting
<br />of trees on El Cämino Between Whipple and Broadway. The matter of the
<br />curb way tree plan has been referred to the Ci:.ty Manager f.or a report
<br />and recommendation.
<br />
<br />Chairman Gold reported that the matter of Union Cemetary has been re-
<br />ferred to the City Attorney by the council to draw up an ordinance, es-
<br />tablishing a five year limitation to further burials. This matter to
<br />be taken off of the agenda.
<br />
<br />Recreation Director Morton had no further report on the Hawes Park
<br />switch. This matter to be removed from the agenda.
<br />
<br />Regarding the Yacht Harbor, Commissioner Hanley advised that the Port
<br />Engineer had made a survey and figured cost for dredging and widening
<br />of the harbor. This information to be forwarded to the City Engineer
<br />Jain and Councilman Britschgi.
<br />
<br />Chairman Gold reported that a ground-breaking ceremony had taken place
<br />at the site of the War Memorial building. The bids for chairs and
<br />curtains have been accepted and approved. To be removed from the agenda.
<br />
<br />Park Superintendent Balzarini rep9rted that the City Manager has asked
<br />him, with the assistance of the City En'gineer, to (conduct the survey of
<br />the' streets to determine types of trees to be used in parking :'strips.
<br />
<br />Commissioner Beals reported that the cost of new trees for El Camino
<br />between ~ipple aM Broadway would be uo~d $5.00 per tree. Co~issioner
