Present: <br />Catherine Brennan, Louise Tornell, Williæm Hanley, Gerry Verssen, <br />Maurice Schutz, Alyn Beals, Irving Gold, Pasco Balzarini and Alfred <br />Morton. Also present: Youth Day Commissioners from S~quoia High <br />School -- Anne Ledbetter, ~ev Capurro, Grace Hirotsu, Kalani Torbert, <br />Jim Wangeman and Lyman Ashley. <br /> <br />. MSC William Hanley and Catherine Brennan that the minutes of the <br />meeting of January 4 be approved as mailed. <br /> <br />Ralph Elliott of the Westwood Terrace Improvement Club appeared <br />requesting permission to place two basketball backstops on the <br />turfed area of Hetch Hetchy. This would be agreeable to the Com- <br />mission if the backstops were erected according to proper safety <br />standards. <br /> <br />Co~ssioner Williæm Hanley reported that weather conditions have <br />hampered work at Yacht Harbor. He also reported continued progress <br />on negotiations with the Port Co~ssion. Alfred Morton reporteà <br />that a launching ramp will be installed soon. <br /> <br />Commissioner Louise Tornell advised that the Park and Recreation <br />Foundation commåttee, appointed by the Mayor, met and a resume was <br />given of the Foundation for those members of the co~ttee not familiar <br />with the item. Councilman Paul Jones was elected chairman of the <br />committee and Louise Tornell, secretary. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hanley reported that he has based the real estate <br />committee of the council to get the estimated cost of the Baird <br />property, with the possibility of recommending this in the next <br />budget. This item to be removed from the agenda. <br /> <br />Commissioner Alyn Beals reported that the state will not give finan- <br />cial help in the removal and replacement of the trees on EI Camino <br />between Whipple and Brewster. The city is awaiting permission from <br />the Division of Highways in Sacræmento for the removal of these trees, <br />then the city will replace them. <br /> <br />Commissioner Maurice Schutz advised that the new Farm Hills Subdivi- <br />sion is not yet off of the drawing boards. He will see Mr. FraITm of <br />Oddstad Homes later. <br /> <br />Chairman Gold turned the meeting over to Youth Day Commission Chair- <br />man Anne Ledbetter. <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br />
