<br /> <br /> <br />147 <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION DOMMISSION <br />REGULAR MEETING, MARCH 7,1956 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairmw Irving Gold on March 7 at 8 p.m. Present: Catherine <br />Brennan, Louise Tornell, William Hanley, Gerry Verssen, Maurice Schutz, <br />Alyn Beals, Irving Gold, Pasco Balzarini and Alfred Morton. Also pre- <br />sent: Assistant to City Manager L. A. Kimball. <br /> <br />MSC William Hanley and Catherine Brennan that the minutes of the meet- <br />ing of Febru~y 8 be ~proved as ~iled. <br /> <br />A memo was received from City Clerk Dodge, stating that the city <br />council has approved the recommendation regarding operating hours, etc., <br />of the swimming pool. <br /> <br />A copy of a letter from Chester Lebsack, Asst. City Attorney, to the <br />City Clerk, was read, advising that the sale of a portion of Haweg <br />Park is n~ in escrow in too amo~t of $28,650.00. <br /> <br />A letter from the state Recreation Commdssion to the city council was <br />for~!ard,ed, regarding our request for a recreation survey. The state <br />Commission no longer conducts formal studies, except for communities <br />which do not have an established recreation commIssion, department and <br />services. A guide will be published in April for use by Planning and <br />Park and Recreation Commissions. The state Commission recommends a <br />series of meetings with local commissions together with a state spec- <br />ialist for study and applications of suggestions in this guide. This <br />matter will be held in abeyance until the Park and Recreation Commission <br />receives this guide. <br /> <br />Comissioner Willi~ Hanley reported that bids of $50,000 will be asked <br />for the dredging at Yacht Harbòr. <br /> <br />Commissioner Louise Tornell reported continued progresson the Park <br />and Recreation Foundation. <br /> <br />, Commissioner Alyn Beals reported that sweet gun trees will be planted <br />now on EI Camino between Whipple and Brewster and the old trees re- <br />moved later. <br /> <br />Commissioner Maurice Schutz reported continued progress on additional <br />land in the Farm, Hills subdivision. <br /> <br />Ray Murphy of Murphy & Hastings, engineering firm, advised the com- <br />m1,.ss1.on that the bound"aries of Stulsaft Park have been set.
