Regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order by Jim ~echt at 8 p.m. in tM ?Conference Ro~ of the Veterans Memorial Building. Following Commissioners were present: Jim Knecht, Alyn Beals, Maurice Schutz, Catherine Brennan, Louise Tornéll and Jim Slebodiaa. r- Absent": Chairman Wally Harder. Staff members present: Red Morton, Pasco ~lzarlnl ~. SM~Y and Don Dimitratos. MSC--Beals and Tornell that mnutes of Septe~er 6 ~et1ng be approved as mailed. . A letter from City Manager Jim Neålin answer to a number of requests 8ade by the Commission was read by Alyn Beals. ~ ~ COMMUNITY PARK NIGHT WATERING: City Manager stated that this was not in the budget. MSC--Bea1s and Schutz--That a letter be sent to the City manager and that this letter be written and properly worded by Red Morton. .. MONTHLY CHART AT VETERANS BUILDING: ~m Neal ass~es the C~ission ~at this request ñll be carried out by the new ~secretary and that chart ~wil1be done on a monthly basis. BEAUTIFICATION OF WHIPPLE AVENUE: A new survey is being conducted by Pasco Balzarini and a report - forthcoming. - COMMUNITY PAR K REST ROOMS: Jim Neal stated that the original figure which was adopted by the Budget Committeé did not a@ree with the new figure. A letter will be sent to the City Manager by Pasco Balzarini explaining the situation as was agreed at the Joint Meeting on June 8,1961. .. PARKING LOT BETWEEN BECHET AND GRIFFIN FIELD: City Manager stated that no money was alloted in the'budget for this work. A letter is to be sent to the City Manager stating that al- though no money was alloted in the budget, it still should be finished as soon as possible. ~ '" SEWER LINES IN STUIßAFT PARK: Mr. Neal states that this is in the legal department for consider- ation. ROSE GARDEN: . This was again kicked around and the feeling of the Commission is that the only way that the Rose Garden and the rest af the plans that the Commission has in the fire hinges on the approval of the- Community Park Master Plan. The Commission feels very strongly that the Master Plan be adopted and requested fuat a letter be sent to tM City Manager asking him Why this has not been approved by the City Council. It is . very important to the Commission that this plan be adopted by the City Council without delay. FRIENDLY ACRES: Very good progress has been made regarding obtaining :land for, a' park.
