'- <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />') <br /> <br />Regular Meeting of Park & Recreation Commission <br />December 2, 1964 2 P.M. <br />Veterans Memorial Building <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman James Knecht at 2:00 p.m. <br /> <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: James Knecht, Alyn Beals, <br />Robert Whitmore, Doris Thompson, Louise Tornell, Jack Stuart, Alfred <br />Morton, William Shewry, James Neal. Noted absent and excused: <br />Pasco Balzarini (Illness) Maurice Schutz (trip). <br /> <br />. .' <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />MSC that the minutes of the November 2nd minutes be approved as mailed <br />and corrected. <br /> <br />Mr. Lloyd Sherwood, representing the Highlanders Little League, was <br />present to discuss possible changes in the Little League Agreement <br />that was to be discussed by the Commission as Item 9 on the Agenda. <br /> <br />A brief report by Mr. Morton on the progress of the plans for the swim- <br />ing pool at Hoover School was given. The recommendations of a <br />possible site proposal and other related material will be present- <br />ed by Councilman Royer to the Redwood City Elementary School Board <br />at regular meeting of December 9, 1964. <br /> <br />Mr. Neal reported that the latest plans for Valota Road did not involve <br />the use of any Park or Recreational land so this item should be <br />dropped from the Agenda. The Commissioners expressed their pleas- <br />ure at this news, but wished to again go on record as opposing any <br />use of Park or Recreational land for any other purpose than for <br />Parks or Recreation. It was MSC that a letter be sent to Mr. Neal <br />requesting that the Park and Recreation Commission be represented <br />in any future planning that might directly or indirectly affect <br />the use of Park & Recreational lands. <br /> <br />Planning procedure for covering the creek was changed to the last item <br />on the Agenda. <br /> <br />Mr. MOrton reported that the work on the Speed Barriers at Community <br />Park has been completed with a noticeable improvement in traffic <br />speed. <br /> <br />Mr. Neal reported that he has presented a request to the City Council <br />for the employment of a professional architect to assist in the <br />planning of a building and for landscaping of the Baird property. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mr. Morton reported that plans for the development of a Community <br />Park playground will be included in the over-all planning of the <br />Baird property. <br /> <br />Mr. Morton reported that a request to Mr. Spinas has been made for an <br />agreement for the supervision of Rest Rooms at McKinley, Hoover <br /> <br />" ~.'
