Meeting adjourned at 10:20 p.m. <br /> <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION. <br />June 2, 1965 <br /> <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by' Chairman A1yn Beals at 7:30 pm. <br /> <br />On the roll call the following were noted present: Commissioners, <br />A1yn Beals, Jack Stuart, James Knecht, Louise Tornell, Jasper Sipes <br />and Robert Whitmore. Noted absent and excused: Doris Thompson. <br />Also noted present: Red MOrton, Bill Shewry, Pasco Balzarini and <br />Don Dimi tr a to s . <br /> <br />Minutes were approved with the fol1ow~ng correction. Mr. Knecht's <br />statement on the purchase of land was in regard to Hoover School, <br />not Taft School. <br /> <br />Correspondence: <br /> <br />A copy of the letter sent to the City Manager by Mr. Beals <br />requesting that further consideration be given to important items <br />omitted from the Park Department budget was read. <br /> <br />A letter from Mr. Wells, Chairman of the regional planning <br />committee of San Mateo County was read. In the letter Mr. Wells <br />requested that a member of the Park and Recreation Commission be <br />appointed to serve on the Waterways Sub=Committee. Chairman Beals <br />appointed Commissioner Sipes to serve on this committee. <br /> <br /> <br />A copy of the information letter sent by the San Mateo County <br />Board of Supervisors to interested City Officials was read. The <br />park program part was noted. Chairman Beals pointed out that the <br />Commission is on record with the City Manager with a written request <br />that added lands be acquired by the City to meet our present and <br />future Park and Recreation needs. Mr. Beals said that he feels <br />the commission can justify these requests and it now rests with the <br />city council to budget monies for this purpose to be supplemented <br />by possible county, state and federal funds. <br /> <br />A copy of a speed letter from Mr. Balzarini to Mr. Neal was <br />read. This letter recommended that the small parkways adjacent to <br />the new expressway at Five Points be rocked, oiled and prepared <br />~imilar to those areas being prepared by the State. <br /> <br />A copy of a speed letter from Mr. Balzarini to Mr. Neal was <br />read.
