<br />73 <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />REDWOOD CITY PARK & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />Ma y 4, 19 6 6 , 7: 3 0 p. m . <br />Veterans Memorial Building <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />The regular monthly meeting was called to order by Vice-chairman Robert <br />Whitmore at 7:40 p.m., in the absence of Chairman Beals. <br /> <br /> <br />- <br /> <br /> <br />On roll call the following were noted pr-esent: Commissioners Robert <br />Whitmore, Ann Gooding" James Knecht, Jasper Sipes and Doris Thompson. <br />Chairman Alyn Beals entered meeting a,t 7 :48 p.m. Absent: Commiss- <br />ioner Jack Stuart. <br /> <br />Also present: Director of Recreation, Alfred Morton; Park Super in- <br />_tendent, ~asco Balzarini: RecreationSup~rvisors: Bill Paulson and <br /> <br />- ~ <br /> <br /> <br />Bill Wooten; San Carlos High students-Dick Chisum; Jack Lehman and <br />Jim Leitner; Architect, Mr. Bernard Nobler ,arrived at 8:30 p.mr.\: <br />Mrs. Lee Massman, stenographer. <br /> <br />PERSONAL APPEARANCES: <br /> <br />V~T T' 11"lrvrYlnJL.JJ 1. ' <br /> <br /> <br />MARATHON BASEBALL GAME: San Carlos High School students - Dick <br />Chisum, Jack Lehman and Jim Leitner ,requested use of a baseball <br />field in Community Park for holding of a marathon baseball game. <br />Use of the field would be needed for a weekend or so, with per- <br />h~s Friday to ~n~ay involvement. ~e boys stated that many <br />members of their team were Redwood City residents-mainly from <br />the Farm Hills area - and that they hoped to establish a record <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br /> <br />for national recognition on the baseball game. General approval <br />was given by the CQmmission providing satisfactory details could <br />be worked out with Mr. Morton on the following: adult supervis- <br />ion,- sponsors, coaches; rotation ,of players during game so no <br />one player is involved in too ,long play; that they challenge <br />Sequoia or Woodside Highs so Redwood City could relate closer to <br /> <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />the activity; that July or mid-August dates were acceptable; that <br />night lighting of field costs were paid; that supervision could <br />be arranged; and that definite plans are presented in writing for <br />consideration of the Commission at its June 1st meeting for rec- <br />ommending to the Council. <br /> <br />(Chairman Beals assumed the chair and thanked Mr. Whitmore for pre- <br />siding to this point.) <br /> <br /> <br />MINUTES of the meeting of April 6th were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Map of City denoting school s.ites, park and recreation areas <br />ãnd future park sites - prepared by the Park Department. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Minute order 66-92 dated May 3, 1966, advising of re-appoint- <br />ment of Mrs. Ann Gooding and James Knecht to Park & Recreation <br /> <br /> <br />I . <br /> <br />Commlss1on. <br />
