<br /> <br />Commissioner Knecht discussed the GAP students and suggested they could learn more <br />and do a better job if assigned to the Commission for an entire semester rather than <br />only twice during the semester. Resultant from a lack of enrollment, there have not <br />been .sufficient students for the Commission this semester. Commissioner Warren indicated <br />he would look into the program and report back to the Commission. <br /> <br />The "All City Talent Contest" will be changed to "All City Talent" without the prizes <br />and competition. It was decided that the children would receive as much, or more, <br />benefit without the stress of competition and simply enjoying performing in front of <br />an audience. This format will be developed for next year. <br /> <br />The Stanford Crew was discussed. It was pointed out that the staff was working with <br />the Manager's Office to arrive at a more positive agreement for future use of the <br />Marina. <br /> <br />Commissioner Warren discussed a nature class at Franklin School. The teacher of the <br />class wants the class to be involved in any redevelopment in Stulsaft Park with respect, <br />to conservation projects. As the project develops, the staff will contact the teacher. <br /> <br />Mr. Weeks spoke briefly on the Functional Responsibi1it~es and Organizational Structure <br />booklet which was given to the Commission. It attempts to present goals and relation- <br />ships and the manner in which the department will operate. Copies were sent to the <br />City Council and Department Heads. The booklet can also serve as a basis for a manual <br />of policies, establishing objectives, and defining responsibilities. <br /> <br />Chairman Schenck accompanied Mr. Weeks to Stu1saft Park with the Stu1saft Foundation. <br />The Foundation received a thorough tour of the area. The Foundation requested several <br />alternatives for their consideration 'as park plans develop. <br /> <br />Chairman Schenck thanked the Commissioners for their support in the preceding year and <br />asked for their continued support in the coming year.
