<br />2l5 <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARKS & RECREATION <br /> <br />COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> <br /> <br />JULY 11, 1973 <br /> <br />The regular business meeting was opened at 7:42 p.m. by Chairman Larry Schenck at the <br />Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwodd City. <br /> <br />~se Eres~t: CMir~n L~ry Sche~k, C~issioners Reuben Ha~es (Left the meeting <br />at 9:00 p.m.), James Knecht, Diane Pound, and Joanne Weintraub. <br /> <br />Those absent: Commissioner Frank Guida. <br /> <br />I J <br /> <br />Also ~resent: Mr. Marshall Blank, 823 Piedmont Way <br /> <br />The Minutes of the June 13, 1973 regular business meeting were approved as mailed on a <br />motion by Commissioner Weintraub, seconded by Commissioner Pound. - <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />'Commissioner Warren's resignation was discussed. Due to added commitments with his <br />school employment, Commissioner Warren did not feel he could devote adequate time to his <br />duties as Commissioner and therefore resigned. The Commission was sorry to lose him. <br />Chairman Schenck has talked with Mayor Keckley and requested the post be filled as soon <br />as possible. - <br /> <br />...... <br /> <br />Chairman Schenck mentioned a letter which was received from Joe Lodi regarding the <br />PRIDE program, which is a program that attempts to identify and recognize those segments <br />of Redwood City of which everyone can be proud. PRIDE i'equested help', j.n_~~ùgust'~:'frÐll';:,- -~ <br />the Parks & Recreation Department and the Department staff members will make themselves <br />available'to speak to service clubs and civic groups, make slide presentations, se't up <br />a recognition night of all our volunteers (dessert-type affair) and will schedule other <br />events fôr PRIDE participation. <br /> <br />Chairman Schenck mentioned receiving and reading the San Mateo County Minutes. The San <br />Mateo County Commission was in favor of meeting with the Parks & Recreation Commission. <br /> <br /> <br />The minutes of the last City Council meeting were mentioned. The transfer of Capital <br />Improvement funds to Community Park was discussed. With regard to capital expenditures, <br />Chairman Schenck felt the Conunission should be allowed to make recommendations but <br />realized that there was not ad~quate timing in this instance for the Commission to become <br />involved. - <br /> <br />
